The Introduction to the Navy (NS331) explains to the 2CL cadets the maritime character of the Philippines, the origin of the Philippine Navy, and the nature of the naval service. It discusses how the PN transformed from being a former sea-going arm of the Philippine Army, to a warfighting Navy it is today. Further, it introduces the students to the parlance of the Philippine Navy to include its various peculiarities as a branch of the AFP.

The Navigation (NS332) Course is designed to equip the Second Class Midshipmen with the essential knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively maneuver warships in various sea conditions and environments. The course covers key navigation concepts such as celestial, terrestrial, and electronic navigation. Further, the course also covers discussions on the proper use of the Nautical Charts and Publications. As an essential skill, the cadets will also solve solutions to different maneuvering board problems. Finally, the course covers the use of modern navigation tools, interpretation of charts and landmarks, and other essential navigation techniques such as 3-minute rule, dead reckoning among others.

The Watchkeeping and Management Course is designed to equip Second Class Midshipmen with the essential knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to effectively manage and maintain watch on a naval vessel. The course provides a comprehensive understanding of the duties and responsibilities of a Watch Officer, focusing on ensuring safety, maintaining situational awareness, and making informed decisions as authorized by the Commanding Officer.

The Introduction to PN Field of Specialization (NS431) equips the midshipmen with the necessary knowledge pertaining to the PN's Fields of Specialization (FOS) — its fundamental principles and application in the PN, as well as the career progression of the FOS that they will pursue. Further, the course tackles Naval Leadership and provides working knowledge on the different defense concepts, strategies, management tools, correspondence and processes being used by the PN.

The Naval Warfare Concepts (NS432) explains to the 1CL Midshipmen the fundamentals and basic knowledge of Naval Warfare. It discusses the evolution of Naval Warfare from ancient to modern contemporary times and relates it to the PN. It also introduces the Combat Information Center and its role in naval warfighting. The course also primes the midshipmen on the different domains of Naval Warfare.

The Officer Preparatory Course / On the Job Training (NS463) prepares the 1CL Midshipmen in their future roles as Ensigns of the Philippine Navy (PN). The course is divided into three modules: AFP Professional Development Module that discusses joint warfare, joint operations, and its application in maritime law enforcement; Other Maritime Operations that introduces to the Midshipmen amphibious operations, naval surface fire support, and maritime interdiction operations; and a series of Combat-related simulation at CIC-equipped PN Vessels and MAAP; and OJT aboard PN Vessels.
